Dr. Marvey's Rescue Me Review-Part 1

I'm a big fan of gel manicures. BIG fan. Somehow, I got into the habit of getting it done at the salon with Gelish polish. I say "somehow" because how dare I, a stay-at-home-mom, indulge in such ridiculousness?! Well, it made me feel happy and "ready" and shiny and new. Yup. But then I saw that it was possible to do at home for a fraction of the cost and I jumped right in!! Yay! Hip hip hooray!! I LOVE my Sensationail Pro lamp and I use Sensationail and Red Carpet Manicure and Sally Hansen and whatever else I can find and it's FANTASTIC! (I even did a video tutorial, which you can find by clicking here: MlleGadget Paints Her Nails!) ;)

Now we turn to Rescue Me.

Why, you may ask? Well, I've been known to peel my gel polish off from time to time often. And while it's possible to get away with this without doing any damage, I did some damage. Yup. I needed help. My nails were brittle and looked ready to break. I tried my old standby, Sally Hansen's Grow Strong. It just didn't cut it this time. Boo hoooooo!!! Oh, they grew alright - just not strong enough. A while ago I bought a three-part product by Dr. Marvey. I'd never heard of it, but it's plant-based and that sounded good to me. So, a few days ago, I put it on. First, I filed my nails down short to try to get a fresh start.  You apply two coats of the Nail Grow, allow it to dry, two coats of Nail It, dry, and then apply Nail CPR daily. The Nail CPR is like a cuticle gel/oil and I love it. I will say that I am not very patient and, being used to gel polish, did not let the stuff dry quite enough! But it still looks pretty as long as you don't look too closely. This is a shot of my nails from last night.
I'll see how it goes. It's supposed to show results after 5 days! Bring it on!!

Stay tuned for the Day Five Review.....

Dream Dinners to the Rescue!

does anyone else do Dream Dinners? do you know what it is? no, I do not work for the company, i just love it!!! i wish i thought of it! i mean, i thought a thousand times of doing the cook-all-day-sunday thing in order to have meals prepared for the week and i know people who do this (you know who you are), but as the years have slipped by i have come to the realization that YEARS HAVE SLIPPED BY and I've never, not once, spent a sunday preparing meals for the week. once, i made two bread loaves worth of sandwiches for lunches to freeze and it was a miracle. it made life so easy, just like i always knew it would. (note to self: do that again)

Dream Dinners lets me have that easy feeling about dinner all the time! it's fantastic. today i came home with 14 meals all ready to go, a lot of them with sides!! i keep a list in the kitchen (that they send home with me) and mark things off as I prepare them and note our opinion of the meals so i can plan for another time. the monthly menu changes every time. there are sides and desserts available to purchase. the shop is clean and the ocd girl inside of me sings at the organized-ness.

i love it. how about you? how do you like to plan and prepare meals?

here's the site in case you want to check it out: Dream Dinners

Wanna-know Wednesday one

hi, everyone! i'm excited to let you know that i'm starting a series called "Wanna-know Wednesday"! that's right, i want to know about you. ----not too much, haha! just some simple and silly things. i thought of this as i was doing the thing i'm about to ask you about and wondering if anyone else is quite as crazy as i am. let's begin.

do you label your label maker? yup. i do. okay, okay, maybe not the label maker, but the charging cord. and all my other cords. yes, this cord happens to clearly say "Dymo" on it, but the writing is too small for me to instantly recognize, so i printed up a big ole label. yup. yup. yup.

so it's really going to be two questions to start with:

1. craziest thing you've ever labeled
2. craziest organizational thing you've caught yourself doing/wishing you could do

make me laugh, people!

summer loving

so summer has finally begun around here. yay! and i am so excited/nervous to have more time with the kiddos. they are awesome, funny, fabulous, inspiring and ..... anxiety causing! so far, so good, though. beauty and i had a girls' day while handsome was at his first day of a 2 week camp. we all enjoyed our days thoroughly only to dissolve into whining and reprimanding immediately after camp. we recovered quickly, but how annoying!!??? anyone out there with suggestions for easing the transition from constant on-the-go to s-l-o-w?? anyone??

junk drawer to desk drawer

the idea was to clean out a junk drawer, but my desk drawer had turned into a junk drawer and that's just not productive or, let's face it, cool. enough was enough.

this was the drawer (the one-and-only):

so, first i took the drawer out of the desk so that i could see everything crammed in there. this included some old batteries that had leaked everywhere and lots of scraps of trash to just toss. i took everything out, put small children's toys (that i had probably confiscated and shoved away) back in their respective proper places, cleaned the bottom of the drawer with an all-purpose cleaner to get rid of the battery acid, and put some little organizing baskets in there. I found them in the dollar section at Staples!  then i sorted and purged and placed the office items that belong back into the drawer.

here's the after picture:

ahhh...that's better. for now.

bummer. seriously.

i honestly intended to organize my home (see older post), but i somehow managed to kill my back. oh, and break my sewing machine. the latter problem has been reconciled, the former is being seen to with the help of my new chiropractor, dr. w. aaaahhhhhhh.

and who knew i had scoliosis? not i. but seeing that x-ray proved it. very interesting.

luckily, i did manage to work on a curtain after my new sewing machine came home. i think it looks very pretty. unfortunately, in my rush to get it done and try out my new machine, i measured incorrectly and made it too short. wah.. i can still see my neighbors. luckily i have more fabric and this can just become something else....
